rules/guidelines & FAQ

 Hello there, new member!

This community was inspired by batfic100 {sadly defunct now} and twilight100 at LJ. I created [community profile] xmen100 (active) and [community profile] sv100 (retired) as well as a few other related communities that were inspired by it, originally over at LJ as well, but brought them here including [community profile] mcu100 (active).

o1. Your drabble needs to be exactly 100 words. No more no less. Regardless of the small word count, each drabble must be underneath a cut - if you don't know how to use an check out THIS page or a fake cut to your unlocked journal/other community/AO3/SquidgeWorld/etc.

You can write interconnected drabbles under one fic header but please separate each 100 words in some way (a separator or labeled Parts - Although Parts will not be counted towards your 100). Each 100 words should have the prompt in there somewhere or at the very least implied. If by any chance you write more interconnected drabbles that are not focused on the prompt, please put that somewhere on your entry here, for example you could write: 6 drabbles written for the challenge & one that isn't.

o2. These drabbles also must be brand new and written specifically for the community. No using past works.

Can you use these with other challenges/prompts? Sure can! Whatever helps you to write!

o3. The goal of this community is to have fun of course, but also to bring your team to the winning position for each bi-weekly challenge. Each drabble written constitutes as 10 points for your team and will be counted up at the end of each week, and if your team wins and you participated in the challenge you'll receive a banner.

o4. You can post as many times as you like in the given two weeks. In fact, it's encouraged. The more you post, the more likely your team will win.

o5. For each challenge, the member of the team who won & had participated will be awarded a banner. This will be announced when new challenges and previous challenge winners are posted.

o6. You are required to put your own tags, if confused, please check out below:

Here is an example: author: (your username), challenge: (challenge title here), team: (your team)

author: flareonfury, challenge: thanks, team: metahumans

Don't forget to add your universe, character & pairing tags, too!

Here is an example of them: character: (name), pairing: (names), universe: (title)

character: clark "superman" kent, pairing: clark/oliver, universe: smallville

For pairing tags, it would be whoever's FIRST name comes in alphabetical order.

If you need a tag created - which good on you because I have over 400 tags, please just put it on your post & tag with: !needs tags

Here is also a Tagging Reference to what is currently available - feel free to use it as a request post for new tags.

o7. When posting, use the guidelines given in the user info and please put your username, your team & # of drabbles in the subject line.

Here is an example:
your username // team (your team) // # Drabble(s)

flareonfury // team metahumans // 5 drabbles

o8.
Crossovers with other fandoms are not currently allowed. (There MIGHT be challenges that will allow crossovers though!) "Crossovers" between any DC related fandoms such as mediums are completely acceptable.

o9. Original characters are okay, as long as they aren't the main focus of your drabble.

10. NO REAL PEOPLE FICTION.

11. The prompt is merely a suggestion, as long as it is loosely based on whatever the prompt it is, it's okay!

Started in December 2025, we starting having two monthly challenges at [community profile] xmen100 and [community profile] mcu100, one for a "pairing" prompt and "character" prompt on TOP of the normal weekly prompt challenge. This is completely optional, of course - it's mostly used as an extra challenge or help inspire you, plus of course a way to get some mixed characters/pairings.

Now for how this is going to work, you'll receive 10 points for using the "pairing" prompt and/or "character" prompt on TOP of the normal bi-weekly prompts. If you just write one or the other, you'll receive just 10 points, but if you do both that's 20 points on top of the normal 10 points per drabble.

The monthly Challenges will last from the 1st to the last day of the month at 11:59PM EST.
Please also be aware of the current "bi-weekly" prompt.

What if you don't like the pairing or character? You don't have to write them! They are just suggestions and a way for to see more mixture of characters/pairings. But if you want to try your hand at them, that's perfectly fine too! Encouraged even! Same thing goes if you write a poly ship, as long as two of the characters that are part of the "pairing" prompt appear, that's acceptable.

What if the work reads as more gen than a "pairing"? That's fine! That's kinda why I put the "&" instead of the "/" on the prompts themselves, so long as both characters show up in the work it would count! Also as long as you tag and/or mention that your drabble(s) fit the monthly challenge so I know to count them.

What if the character is more background/side character? Again perfectly fine and that would be acceptable, as long as you tag and/or mention that your drabble(s) fit the monthly challenge so I know to count them.

Do I have to use the universe the picture presents? As always NO - Always use whatever universe you want to or some sort of amalgamation of canons you want to use. Most of these "pairings" won't be canon, more than likely, they will be two characters in the same frame.

When & How do we receive the monthly challenge banners? You'll receive the banners when I put the new Monthly Challenge next month, just like if I would be posting for the bi-weekly prompt. This time, however, anyone who participated in the Monthly Challenges will receive the banner.

Some common questions... if you have any more, comment here.

If I'm on Team Aliens/Metahumans, am I restricted to writing about just aliens? metahumans? That's the beauty of it! NOPE! You can write about whatever and whoever you want, as long as it's in the DC universe.

Can I post more than one drabble in a single post? Yes and in fact it's encouraged. It helps member flists stay unclogged (so I'm told anyway, I don't care).

Can I link my drabbles, like a drabble series? Of course! If you want to interconnect your drabbles, completely ok too!

Are we allowed to post our drabbles to other communities/AO3/etc? Most definitely! It's your writing - do whatever you want with it. All I ask is you link back or refer back to the community when you can so more people can join up!

Can I write in a non-English language? Of course! As long as it consists of 100 words in whatever language. Make a note somewhere on your post so readers are aware.

What kinds of ships/pairings are allowed here? Any and all - no shipping wars allowed. If you want to canon stuff only, that's perfectly fine - unconventional/non-canon? of course! -  Crack pairings? of course! ANY pairing is allowed. Just warn for incest or whatever other potential triggers.
